She began her professional journey in education and education policy as a youth participant in Coro New York Leadership’s Youth Leadership Academy Program. The Luther Rice Undergraduate Research Fellowship was awarded to Faith because she is undertaking a significant, focused examination of an area of inquiry that may result in work that could merit presentation or publication in a scholarly venue. Faith's research project, Active Citizenship Through SocioScientific Issues (ACTS) explores the way teaching socioscientific issues (SSI), informed by cross-cultural research, will develop youth aged 15-18 years old’ sense of civic obligation and impact political opinions. Through quantitative and qualitative inquiry, and drawing on past research about SSI and information about interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning, Faith's project aims to uncover connections between learning about SSI and active citizenship.
Immersifying herself in social innovation and service, Faith serves as a GW Upstart Commissioner. In this role she reviews and selects awardees for the Public Service Grant Commission (PSGC), Projects for Peace, Clinton Global Initiative University, and Eco-Equity Challenge grants. She also hosts application workshops and mentoring sessions to support.
Outside of work and school Faith immerses herself exploring African, Caribbean, and Black American history through reading, visiting museums and historical sites, and following storytellers like Storytelling with Elle.
Ultimately, Faith is devoted to building youth because she believes education is emancipatory.
